Description
The Interdisciplinary School for Environmental Crisis is an international educational program that ARISTEiA launched in 2022 with the goal to run on annual basis. The aim of this activity is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue for addressing environmental crisis-related problems.
The scientific areas that the program aims to merge are:
The program has two main components. The 1st component includes lectures about the most recent breakthroughs and current trends in several topics of basic and applied research. The 2nd component pertains to development of interdisciplinary culture and problem-solving skills. In addition, career development sessions have been scheduled aiming to facilitate exploration of career options and appropriate preparation. The combination of participants from Greece and abroad aims to generate a bridge among prominent young trainees from several places in the world, as well as to facilitate the establishment of future international networks of excellence.
Financial Support
All selected students will be sponsored for the following expenses:
- Hotel staying for the entire duration of the course including breakfast and lunch.
- Transfers between Athens International Airport and location of the ISEC (organizers will arrange bus transportation)
Eligibility
The scientific board of the ISEC will select up to 40 students (senior undergraduate and graduate) among applicants from Greece and abroad. The ISEC welcomes applications by students, who pursue academic courses or research in one of the areas listed above and excel (Top-20% in their class) as members of any of the following groups:
1. Senior undergraduate students. At the time of application, a student applicant must be a senior undergraduate (e.g. 5th or 6th year Medical Students from Greece; 3rd or 4th year Medical Students from the US or other countries that medical school is considered graduate studies; 3rd or 4th year undergraduate students of 4-year programs; 4th or 5th year Engineering and Pharmacy students)
2. Graduate students (MSc, MPhil, PharmD, PhD programs).

Application Review Criteria
Up to 40 students will be selected according to their academic record and potential to develop to prominent figures of Academia or industry. To judge the merit of the application, reviewers will comment on the following criteria:
Disqualification of applications
Communication of applicants with the scientific board or reviewers is STRICTLY prohibited. Discussing an application or attempting to influence review outcome will constitute a conflict of interest in the review. Reviewers will notify the scientific board if an applicant contacts them, and the application will be disqualified.
