The Interdisciplinary School for Environmental Crisis (ISEC) is a collaboration of ARISTEiA and the Committee for Restoration of Northern Euboea and aims at delivering an innovative approach to understanding the environmental crisis by:
a) assembling world-leading experts from diverse research backgrounds in Engineering, Biosciences, Medicine, Law, Economics/Business, and Social Sciences who will provide a comprehensive and holistic analysis of the current and future environmental challenges facing our planet;
b) creating inter-disciplinary teams of students who will work on research projects to obtain inventive and integrated solutions, and in the process acquire scientific knowledge, team-working skills, and an international network that will enable them to develop into the next-generation of scientist able to solve complex environmental problems; and
c) assisting the local community of Northern Euboea to overcome the ecological disaster of 2021 by partnering with local experts.
Description
The 6-day course will be conducted in English and will be offered tuition-free (including local transportation and meals) to 30 students that will be selected by the organizing committee. ISEC is organized by Drs Konstantinos Drosatos, Fay Makantasi, Sakis Mantalaris, and Mr. Stratos Tavoulareas under the auspices of the ARISTEiA-Institute for the Advancement of Research & Education in Arts, Sciences & Technology, and supported by the Committee for the Restoration of Northern Euboea.
Location
Edipsos in Northern Euboea has been selected as the location to host ISEC due to the unique environmental and economic challenges that stemmed from the severe ecological disaster of the 2021 wildfires.
